  40. 1. WHAT IS THE BUSINESSCARDS SOFTWARE?
  41. ======================================
  42. BusinessCards for Windows is a free form database program, useful for
  43. keeping track of any type of textual information. You can use
  44. BusinessCards to organize and manage any vital information, such as
  45. addresses, references, notes, etc.
  46.  
  47. BusinessCards is extremely intuitive and easy to use software. I've
  48. tried to make it to be more useful, than Windows Cardfile. BusinessCards
  49. has friendly and convenient folio-like user interface with alphabetic
  50. tabs and flipping pages. I expect you will be amazed by how fast you can
  51. learn to use it effectively.

  53. With BusinessCards you decide how to present and organize information.
  54. Instead of using predefined fields and record layouts, offered by most
  55. database programs and personal information managers, in BusinessCards
  56. you decide how to format and display your data. Moreover, you may use
  57. BusinessCards to store random data, such as Internet WWW pages, video 
  58. or CD titles, short articles, descriptions of collection items, etc.

  60. BusinessCards is compact. There are no requirements for megabytes of
  61. free disk space or extra memory to run the program. So if you are busy
  62. business traveller, you will be able to keep both program and data files
  63. on diskette and use them at client's site. Since BusinessCards  directly
  64. reads and writes Windows Cardfile files, there should be minimum
  65. problems, converting your existing address or price database.

  67. Starting with version 3.0 BusinessCards package contains another great
  68. program - BusinessDialer, which allows you to use your modem and dial
  69. phone numbers from inside BusinessCards.

  72. 2. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE DISTRIBUTION KIT?

  74. Normally, BusinessCards distribution kit consists of archive file

  97. 3. HOW TO INSTALL BUSINESSCARDS?
  98. ================================
  99. In order to install BusinessCards software you need Windows 3.1 or
  100. Windows for Workgroups 3.1 or later, 2 MB of RAM and 550K of free disk
  101. space. Both BusinessCards and BusinessDialer passed extensive tests
  102. under Windows'95 and are fully compatibe with that operating system.
  103.  
  104. Automated Installation
  105. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  106. To install BusinessCards and BusinessDialer run SETUP.EXE program,
  107. which is included in the distribution kit. To do that activate
  108. ProgramManager, then select 'Run' command in 'File' menu. You will 
  109. be prompted for the directory where you want to install the software. 
  110. The rest of the process will be automatic. The SETUP utility copies 
  111. all the files to destination directory, then creates ProgramManager 
  112. group and program icons for you.

  114. Manual Installation
  115. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
  116. Since BusinessCards requires no changes to your WIN.INI, SYSTEM.INI,
  117. AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS files, you can easily install BusinessCards
  118. and BusinessDialer by hand.
  119.  
  120. If you use Windows Program manager, follow the instructions below. If
  121. you have other Windows shell installed (such as Norton Desktop for
  122. Windows), please refer to appropriate documentation on how to add a
  123. new program object to that shell.

  125. In Program Manager you can easily create a visible BusinessCards icon.
  126. To do that, first, select 'New' command in 'File' menu. Next, in 'New
  127. Program Object' dialog box choose 'Program Item'. In 'Program Item
  128. Properties' dialog box use the follwoing commands:
  129.  
  130.          Description: BusinessCards
  131.        Commmand line: C:\BCARDS\BCARDS.EXE
  132.    Working directory: C:\BCARDS
  133.  
  134. Press 'Ok' button until you get back to the Program Manager. The
  135. BusinessCards icon should appear in current Program Manager's window. To
  136. run the program just double click on the its icon. Follow the same
  137. procedure to install BusinessDialer and help files for both of the
  138. programs:

  155. In case you would like to get rid of installed copy of BusinessCards,
  156. just remove program directory with all existing files.

  159. 4. HOW TO REGISTER THE PROGRAM?
  160. ===============================
  161. This software is a fully operational program. I have made it this way
  162. so that you can have a real look at it, and then decide whether
  163. BusinessCards fit your needs or not. If you do find it useful, the
  164. author asks that you please register your copy. Registration fee is
  165. just $29.95. This include registration of BOTH BusinessCards and
  166. BusinessDialer.

  168. For this sum you will receive your personal serial number and:
  169.  
  170.     1. Original diskette with most up to date version of BusinessCards
  171.        for Windows software plus registration bonus -- BrainCubes game
  172.        for Windows.
  173.  
  174.     2. Your personal serial number to register the program. The number
  175.        will be the same for 32-bit release for Windows'95 and Windows/NT,
  176.        so you get FREE upgrade. The initial registration reminder dialog 
  177.        box which appears at the beginning of the program is removed when
  178.        you install your registered copy. Also, your name will appear in 
  179.        Help/About dialog box and word `UNREGISTERED' will be removed from
  180.        program's title bar.

  182.     3. No watermark priniting in registered version, so your output
  183.        will NOT contain "Printed with UNREGISTERED version of BusinessCards"
  184.        phrase.

  186.     4. Fully functional version of BusinessDialer (beyond 30 days free
  187.        trial period).

  189.     5. By registering, you are assured of receiving the most up-to-date and
  190.        full-featured product possible. Next program updates and upcoming 
  191.        32-bit release will be FREE for all registered users and subsequent
  192.        major upgrades will be offered with significant discount.

  195.        over email for their version of BusinessCards.

  270. one copy of the distribution package and duplicate the distribution
